UEMS, the European Union of Medical Specialists, is looking for a Stagiaire, for a period starting from mid?September 2007.
UEMS is a non?governmental organization grouping national medical associations across Europe and
representing medical specialists to the EU Institutions and other European bodies.
The stage will be supervised by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Secretariat of UEMS, Mr.
Frédéric Destrebecq. While it will not be remunerated, a Leonardo European Scholarship could be
obtained if the candidate fulfils the conditions.
PROFILE:
The ideal candidate should:
• Be proficient in both English and French.
• Have a university degree in Political Science, International Affairs, Law, European Studies,
Communication or Journalism.
• Be computer literate.
• Have a very strong command of the policies of the EU and the way of functioning of the
European institutions.
• Be motivated and able to work in a multicultural team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Stagiaire will be asked to:
• Do research on European actuality topics presenting an interest for the medical profession.
• Attend meetings and conferences in the framework of European institutions or associations.
• Collaborate in the writing of articles in the UEMS Newsletter or in other publications of the
organisation.
• Collaborate in the daily management of the Secretariat.
This stage would suit a young BA/MA student, wishing to complete or combine his?her theoretical
knowledge of the European institutions and their policies whilst acquiring a first professional
experience. His?her missions will give the Stagiaire the opportunity to establish a direct contact with
various actors of the European institutions and NGOs.
