International association registration

PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED FOR REGISTRATION OF THE STATUTES OF AN AISBL (INTERNATIONAL NON-PROFIT-MAKING ASSOCIATION)

1.

It is advisable to send a draft of the statutes to the Administration of the Service Public Fédéral Justice to check whether they are in agreement with the text of the Law of 1919 as modified by the Law of 1954.

2.

a) For a newly-formed association, the founder members must sign the last page of the statutes
b) For a modification to existing statutes, the statutes must be voted on by the General Assembly of the organisation (the statutory quorum must be respected)

3. The final version of the statutes must be presented to the Service Public Fédéral Justice at the address shown above. Certain points required by the Ministry must be observed:

a) The coordinates of each founder member (individual or corporate) are required
b) The names of the Management Committee must be given in full, with further details: name, home address, profession and nationality
c) The document must be accompanied by an explanation of the objective and the activities of the association, together with an covering letter addressed to the Minister of Justice (sent to the address of the Administration, see above)

4. Once the statutes have been approved by the Service Public Fédéral Justice by Royal Decree (this takes about six months), they must be published in the annexes to the Moniteur belge (Belgian Gazette) (this also takes about six months).

5. The statutes may be drawn up in any one of the three national languages, French, Dutch or German.
